- For the meeting minutes, I did research on the use of healthcare drones in Singapore. Researched more on the topic by prompting ChatGPT "Tell me more about the use of drones in Singapore"
- After discussing, we narrowed down to 2 ideas: Healthcare Drone and Elevating Wheelchair.
- We chose not to go with the healthcare drone due to many limitations.
- This includes:
- Singapore's unpredictable weather
- Regulatory challenges
- Singaporeans may not be keen to have drones evading their privacy
- Infrastructure can be hard to design and build in Singapore's urban design
- Elevating Wheelchair was chosen for our project
- We individually prompt ChatGPT for our group name "Name for mechanical based team" and eventually picked MecGuild
- During class, we wrote down multiple problem statement ideas. Through these ideas we realised that we have a common problem in mind. Most of us know someone who relies on wheelchairs to move around.
- I brought up the problem that my dad faces with was getting up and down from the wheelchair.
- A simple idea was brought up by Andy where we could combine a office chair design with a manual wheelchair. However, we faced a problem where the office chair could only go down.
- The team thought of implementing the barber chair mechanism into the wheelchair. I researched more on the mechanism and found out that the barber chair uses a hydraulic piston to move up and down.
Presentation Contribution:
- Product comparisons: Researched on products and created slides for this portion including summary
- Manual wheelchairs by Lifeline
- Sunrise Medical Quickie by DNRWheels
- TRU-Balance 4 by Quantum Rehab
- Executive summary: I summarised the report and highlighted key information. A sample report was used as reference to aid my writing.
- Introduction: I wrote the summary of the introduction which talked about why the report was written in the first place. The background overview was also written based on Professor Brad's comments to add it in.
- Types of wheelchairs: A table was created in place of the original bullet points that was on the report. This makes it easier for the reader to read and compare them at a glance. I also researched the reasons on why electrical wheelchairs are expensive.
- Problem statement/Purpose statement: By using the ideal, gap and goal discussed together in class, I used ChatGPT to combine the statements into a concise paragraph.
- Appendix A: I provided information on my fathers difficulties when using an electrical wheelchair.
